Qualifying

Qualifying consists of a short (10 laps or less) session prior to any
official racing. Anywhere from 1 to 3 groups of drivers will be gridded
based on their qualifying time. On a Grand Prix night, the fastest lap
times in the first race will determine your starting position for the next
race. On a Triple GP night, the fastest lap times in race 1 will
determine race 2's grid. The fastest lap times  in race 2 will determine
race 3's grid. In Heat Racing format, there is no qualifying.

Heat Racing Format

Each race is a short 10-lap sprint race. Groupings and starting
position are random except that each driver is guaranteed five to
seven races with one start from pole and one start from last place.
Each finishing position is assigned a point value, and the drivers'
points are totaled for the night. A maximum of 90 points is awarded
based on the finishing position of each driver in each race. Ties are
broken based on fastest lap times. See Scoring section below for
more detail.

Grand Prix Format

Drivers will qualify for race 1 in a qualifying session prior to the race. A
GP race is usually 40 - 50 laps in length. The fastest lap times from the
race will determine the grid for race 2. Race 2 is also usually 40 - 50
laps in length. It is possible for drivers to move from one group to
another from race to race. A maximum of 45 points for each Grand
Prix race is awarded based on the finishing position of each driver in
each race. Bonus points are awarded for the fastest lap. See the
Scoring section below for more detail.

Triple GP Format

Drivers will qualify for race 1 in a qualifying session prior to the race.
The first race is usually 20-30 laps in length. The fastest lap times
from the race will determine the grid for race 2. Race 2 is usually 20 -
30 laps in length. The fastest lap times from race 2 will determine the
grid for race 3. Race 3 is usually 30-40 laps in length, and may be run
reverse grid. It is possible for drivers to move from one group to
another from race to race. A maximum of 30 points for each Grand
Prix race is awarded based on the finishing position of each driver in
each race. Bonus points are awarded for the fastest lap. See the
Scoring section below for more detail.

Drops

For 2012 you will be able to drop your two worst race nights. Since
each night carries a maximum of 90 points (plus bonus), this allows
a driver to drop a single race night, or a 3 race night, whichever
ends up being the 2 lowest scores overall.
